Audio Projects

Roles – Teachers

  • Communicator – Organizing interviews
  • Coordinator – supervising students, student editing, etc.

Roles – Students

  • Researchers – plan the podcasts, find resources
  • Interviewers – ask questions, record the interviews
  • Editors – edit it, post it
  • Respond to it through extra credit assignments

Roles – Community

  • We will interview community members
  • Eventually – a bilingual version translated by parents

Rationale

  • Teach students multimedia skills
  • Meet students where they are at – many have iPods or mp3 players already
  • Critical dialogue – analyzing media
  • Getting our social voice across to the community

IMPACT Values

  • Involvement in the Community – the use of interviews with community members
  • Meaningful Experiences – the process has a purpose
  • Practical Skills – research, editing,
  • Technology – the audio recording, editing and posting, the use of RSS feeds and syndication

Goals

  • Create at least one podcast per week
  • Post the podcasts on thesocialvoice.com
  • At least one podcast per month should include interviews
